Bruchah Haba’ah / A Warm Welcome to Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger, CAJE’s new Director of Adult Learning and Growth!
Dr. Tendler Krieger is a Miami-based scholar, educator, and entrepreneur. A lifelong student, Bella earned an MA and PhD in Islamic and Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University and an MBA in Marketing and International Business from the University of Miami. She is interested in all questions of faith, ritual, culture, and history and is passionate about curating pluralistic spaces for thoughtful conversations across denominational and religious lines.
Currently, she runs an adult Jewish Studies reading group here in South Florida and develops history syllabi for Jewish day schools. Bella has worked as a professor of history at Yeshiva University and held postdoctoral positions at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Princeton and the Global Jewish Studies Program at Florida International University. She was a Fellow of the Kogod Research Center at the Shalom Hartman Institute and is currently enrolled in their three-year Beit Midrash program. Aside from her academic pursuits, Bella worked as a corporate executive and strategy consultant in the healthcare sector.
In her new role at CAJE, Bella is eager to unite her business acumen and love of learning to develop high-level educational opportunities throughout Miami-Dade. She believes that our region is one of the most culturally diverse, creative, and yet underdeveloped adult Jewish learning communities in the United States, and that the time is ripe for actualizing our potential. Bella is a certified yoga instructor, a novice poet, an avid hiker, mountain climber, and world traveler. She currently lives in Surfside, FL, with her husband, three daughters, and pandemic puppy named Babka.
