The March Is Finally Travelling!

At CAJE, we are so excited to be travelling again to honor our past in Poland and celebrate our Jewish future in Israel after three years of cancelled plans.
On Sunday, 65 very diverse Miami-Dade students will fly to Poland and join thousands of participants from countries around the globe on the first leg of March of the Living.
The Miami group will be joined by our incredible team of dedicated volunteer staff, as well as a Second-Generation Child of Survivors, Helen Chaset, and two child survivors, Allan Hall and Laszlo Selly.

For 35 years, the impact of the March on its participants and their communities has been exceptional - no other experiential Holocaust education program has affected so many young people in such a profound manner.
Since 1988, more than 260,000 participants from 52 countries - students, survivors, educators and world leaders, Jews and non-Jews alike - have marched down the same 3-kilometer path leading from Auschwitz to Birkenau on Holocaust Memorial Day as a tribute to all victims of the Holocaust. In total, the Miami delegation has sent over 2,355 students.
The Mission of the Miami March of the Living is to educate the next generation of leaders to strengthen their Jewish identity, remember the Holocaust, act as witnesses, and respond to intolerance and antisemitism, ensuring a strong Jewish future in America, Israel, and around the world.
Although we were not been able to travel to Poland and Israel the past three years, we did continue our mission to educate community teens about the Holocaust and Israel during our travel hiatus.
This year, students started their journey on the March of the Living in December 2022 and have participated in a variety of educational sessions in Miami to prepare them for their immersive experience in Poland and Israel.
They have explored what Jewish life was like before the Holocaust, the history and evolution of antisemitism, antisemitism and anti-Israel rhetoric today, and the intricacies of being an upstander, bystander, perpetrator and/or collaborator. These elements will continue to be infused into the curriculum as we continue our learning in Poland and Israel.
