CAJE Robotics Program Training

Popular culture (in the West) calls #13 “unlucky,” and that’s why there are usually no 13th floors in our apartment and office buildings.
But have you ever asked yourself why #13 is considered an unlucky number?
The answer is: It’s a Christian thing. Look it up and you’ll see it’s connected to the Last Supper and the massacre of the Knights Templar on Friday, October 13th in 1307.
For Jews, 13 is a very lucky number indeed — the number associated with becoming a Bar Mitzvah! (Please don’t ever use “bar mitzvah” as a verb— it’s incorrect and Jewishly illiterate.)
CAJE is proud to report that the 23-24 South Florida Jewish Day School Robotics program is back for another year with 13 schools joining our cohort this year!
Among those 13, two are brand new to our program: Innovative School Temple Beth Sholom (Miami-Dade County) and Donna Klein Jewish Academy (Palm Beach County).
The excitement was palpable at CAJE’s in-person training.
Teachers from these 13 schools gathered for training that featured, for the very first time, our brand new Israel mat entitled “Israel: Land of Innovation,” geared towards students who are being introduced to robotics for the first time and/or grades 3-5.
Our amazing local coach, Ilana Traub, described the atmosphere:
“The excitement was through the roof! Israel: Land of Innovation, is a passion project for me. It combines my love of Robotics with my attachment to the land of Israel. It also gives our new and younger students the opportunity to learn about robotics, coding, and problem solving while fostering their connection to Israel. Being able to train these dedicated teachers and seeing them work together made me even more enthusiastic about the Robotics Program and that much more eager to start.” - Ilana Traub, Robotics Coach
As we usually do, CAJE sent a post-training evaluation survey to all the teachers that participated in the training and 100% of the attendees rated the training as excellent and would recommend CAJE’s South Florida Jewish Day school robotics program to their peers.

Working collaboratively with teachers from other schools, building the robotics missions and challenges and problem-solving as a group, gave me the confidence I needed to bring this back to my school. As the academic year kicks off, CAJE is thrilled to help schools teach coding, math, problem-solving and collaboration skills through the magic of Robotics!
