Reimagining Adult Learning

On Wednesday, May 7, more than 60 rabbis, educators, and community leaders gathered for a deeply impactful Lunch & Learn event with Rabbi Dr. Yitz Greenberg, one of the most influential Jewish thinkers and theologians of our time.
Titled “The American Jewish Century: Stories, Insights and Wisdom from a Lifetime Shaping the Jewish People,” the session was hosted by CAJE: Adult Learning | The Center for Jewish Ideas and Engagement, in collaboration with the Hadar Institute and the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami.
A Dialogue Spanning Generations
Interviewed by Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger, Director of Adult Learning and Growth at CAJE, Rabbi Greenberg shared heartfelt stories and profound insights from his decades at the forefront of Jewish thought, activism, and theology.
In addition to exploring themes such as Tikkun Olam, Holocaust memory, Jewish-Christian relations, and contemporary antisemitism, Rabbi Greenberg also discussed his new book, The Triumph of Life — a bold and inspiring work that presents a vision of Judaism grounded in human dignity, moral responsibility, and the sacredness of life.
Throughout the dialogue, Rabbi Greenberg’s humility, intellectual depth, and enduring faith in the redemptive power of Jewish life and covenant were on full display.

Building a Public Square for Jewish Thought
This event was more than a moment of learning — it was a call to elevate Jewish discourse in our community.
As Dr. Tendler Krieger shared, CAJE Adult Learning is committed to this mission through a three-pronged approach:
- The Home – fostering dialogue through intimate salon-style gatherings
- The Classroom – expanding access through legacy online Jewish studies courses and new day school parent programming
- The Public Square – presenting lecture series and community-wide events that bring top-tier Jewish thought leaders to South Florida
With standout speakers this past year including Donniel Hartman, Yehuda Kurtzer, Tal Becker, Sara Labaton, and Yitz Greenberg, CAJE is shaping a bold, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant Jewish landscape.
Thanks to newly secured funding, CAJE is excited to announce five more years of public lecture programming and is inviting rabbis and synagogues across Miami to join a CAJE-Synagogue Collaborative Group — expanding our collective reach and impact.
Looking Ahead
This special Lunch & Learn was far more than a midday event — it was a celebration of Jewish learning as a living, evolving, and collective pursuit.
It reaffirmed that Miami’s Jewish community is not only ready — but eager — for the kind of visionary conversation and leadership that will shape Jewish life for generations to come.
