One Door Closes, Another One Opens

On September 1st, Miami Diller Teen Fellows Cohort 9 celebrated their graduation from the Diller program.
The Fellows presented their favorite memories from the program and reflected on how they have grown as leaders.
Many of the Fellows mentioned that Diller helped them connect with their Jewish identity, grow their passion for Tikkun Olam, and understand the breadth of Jewish expression beyond their own denominations.
It’s been an incredible year together! We are so proud of the Cohort 9 Fellows and have enjoyed facilitating their development into dynamic, proud, and passionate young Jewish leaders. Thank you to Lindsay Spiegelman, our outgoing Diller Coordinator, for her leadership.
This past Sunday, Cohort 10 had their first Mifgash (workshop) and began their Diller journey. The goal of our first workshop was for the Fellows to get to know one other and begin to explore their own personal identities.
The Cohort 10 Fellows come from all over Miami-Dade County and represent different schools, interests, and ways of practicing Judaism. Diller prioritizes selecting a diverse group of Fellows in order to encourage learning from each other.
The Fellows decorated picture frames that they felt represented their identity. They grappled with the different ways friends, family, school, and media have influenced their identity.
With Rosh Hashana approaching, the teens were encouraged to do some introspection regarding what their goals would be for the New Year. Then the Fellows were asked to write down the aspects of their own identity they wanted to grow and what aspects they wanted to let go of as we begin the New Year.
We finished our workshop with apples and honey to bring sweetness into the New Year!
There is so much to look forward to with Cohort 10 as they dive further into their Jewish journey of growth, challenge, and impact. Our Diller year will be filled with meaningful workshops, exciting Shabbatonim, and impactful community service opportunities.
