The 8th Cohort of the Miami Diller Teen Fellows (a select leadership development program for 10th and 11th graders) kicked off their year with three workshops and a virtual Shabbat experience. Each teen's contributions to the group were so inspiring!

JNTP is a national Jewish day school program adapted from the New Teacher Center in Santa Cruz, California. Through JNTP, CAJE develops veteran teachers into mentors who work specifically with novice teachers in their first 1-3 years in the field. Mentors learn about the specific challenges faced by novice teachers and develop the skills and dispositions needed to guide them through their first years of teaching.

When our Adult Learning/ Melton & More Fall semester kicked off with 26 virtual classes, we were excited to see that our Melton & More program has gone GLOBAL attracting students from Israel, Canada, Panama and Australia, along with students from 16 states around the country.

Last night, CAJE’s Comedy for a Cause event to raise funds to support Miami’s Leo Martin March of the Living program surpassed our own expectations with 400+ attendees.

In addition to Miami’s own Dave Barry, CAJE is lucky to also have “comedians’ comedian” Alan Zweibel (Saturday Night Live, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show, 700 Sundays) appearing with Dave and offering his own laughs at the event.

Though different from our usual setting, the Fellows highlighted their accomplishments, offered blessings and L’Chaims to the group, shared memories of their time together, reflected on the support system Diller cultivated during the pandemic, and identified their plans to develop impact projects that they will be implementing as alumni of the Diller program.

I was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, during the Shah’s reign. We observed Judaism at home and went to the synagogue on the High Holy Days. I had absolutely no formal Jewish education in Iran, and of course, never advertised my Jewish faith.

Melissa Buckner grew up with a strong connection and commitment to her Jewish identity and credits her mother for instilling within her a commitment to Jewish life and learning that was unique, considering Melissa’s mom grew up as a Chinese Methodist from Central America. Her mother converted to Judaism in the late 60s, which was unusual at the time, but she went “all in” to create a Jewish life for the family. Melissa attended Hebrew Youth Academy, Jewish Camps, and was very connected to her Judaism as a young child, identifying as “Conservadox.“

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, Shana’s family kept the Jewish community close to their hearts. The family affiliated with Congregation Beth Sholom, a Modern Orthodox and Zionist congregation, and she attended Rochester’s Hillel Community Day School.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Sara Rayek Bejar has always held her Jewish values and traditions close to her heart . According to Sara, Mexico City boasts one of the largest and best Jewish communities in the world, of which Sara and her family were proud to be a part.
