DILLER COHORT 7 GRADUATION
Posted on 09/18/2020 @ 08:00 AM
This past Sunday, Miami Diller Teen Fellows Cohort 7 celebrated their graduation from the Diller program after 12 months as Fellows.
Though different from our usual setting, the Fellows highlighted their accomplishments, offered blessings and L’Chaims to the group, shared memories of their time together, reflected on the support system Diller cultivated during the pandemic, and identified their plans to develop impact projects that they will be implementing as alumni of the Diller program.
Words from Fellows and Staff were filled with sentiments of hope, resilience, strength, and action. Below are some of these reflections:
“I hope that I will be able to take the lessons that I have learned in Diller and let them guide me as I decide what the course of my life will be. Tolerance and acceptance, pluralism and peoplehood, will help me be more patient and understanding when working with people who think differently than I do. Regardless of the path I go down, I know that I will always incorporate the Jewish values I have learned- the morality and values that push me to be kind, caring and compassionate.”
– Hannah Levin
“My time as a fellow has allowed me to further explore my Judaism, and has taught me core values to implement in my daily life in both Jewish and secular activities.”
– Daniel Solomon
“I learned how to be a leader and how to step out of my comfort zone. I met new people and interacted with people who practiced different types of Judaism. I learned to listen to and respect others and their opinions.”
– Amit Miara
“I hope to use the knowledge I gained through the program to paint a better picture of Israel and to help educate people about the conflict for a more peaceful future.”
-Oz Shami
