CAJE Adult Learning & Growth: the Center for Jewish Ideas and Engagement

The Mission of Adult Learning & Growth: the Center for Jewish Ideas and Engagement

Our mission is to empower learners to find meaning, purpose, and connection in their Jewish lives. Together with our faculty and scholars, we offer stimulating, relevant, and dynamic Jewish learning experiences that introduce big Jewish ideas and cultivate meaningful intellectual relationships among life-long learners.

What We Offer to the Community

CAJE’s Adult Learning offers between 55-70 virtual courses a year (presented as 10-12 semester sessions or 4-6 week mini-courses), free community programs, as well as a community-wide speaker series (virtually and in-person).

Our newly introduced Salon Series provides opportunities for small, affinity groups to read, debate, and exchange ideas in intimate home settings under the guidance of a moderator. Learners gather together monthly to explore some of the most pressing and complex challenges facing the Jewish community today.

Our faculty is comprised of scholars, professors, and community clergy who bring Jewish learning, wisdom, and knowledge to life in engaging ways to our community of learners who hail from 15 different US states and 4 countries.

Our Partnerships

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

CAJE is a proud partner of The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, the largest pluralistic adult Jewish education program in the world. Through Melton, we join a network of community-based schools that provide adults with the opportunity to acquire Jewish literacy in an open, pluralistic, intellectually stimulating learning environment.

Courses through the Melton School are affiliated with The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and cover topics such as:  Jewish Peoplehood, Fighting Antisemitism, Israel Education, Jews in America, and Social Justice.

Shalom Hartman Institute

CAJE is thrilled to announce its new relationship with the Shalom Hartman Institute, a leading Jewish think tank and educational center, serving Israel and North America. Its mission is to strengthen Jewish peoplehood, identity, and pluralism; to enhance the Jewish and democratic character of Israel; and to ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century.

CAJE is excited to begin offering Hartman’s Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism curricula focusing on Jewish Peoplehood, Faith, Practice, and Ethics, as well as its iEngage Project courses, which explore the significance and role of the State of Israel in contemporary Jewish life.

Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies

CAJE is also partnering with the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies to bring their Mahloket Matters curriculum to Miami. This innovative and highly interactive course combines Jewish texts with contemporary social psychology to heal our broken social discourse.

If you have an exciting curriculum you would like to bring to our community, or are looking for educational partnerships, please reach out to Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger.

L’Dor Va’Dor: Meaningful Learning for the Next Generation

The Adult Learning experience inspires learners to pass on a love of Judaism, Torah, and Jewish tradition to the next generation. These shared learning experiences serve as another link in the chain of Jewish tradition.

Our new day-school parent program is intended to help parents of day school children access Jewish learning so that they can partner and participate more confidently in their children’s Jewish education. CAJE sponsored day and evening classes allow parents to return to the classroom and meaningfully engage with their school’s teacher and parent bodies.
