CAJE Adult Learning & Growth: The Center for Jewish Ideas and Engagement

The Mission of Adult Learning & Growth: the Center for Jewish Ideas and Engagement

Our mission is to empower learners to find meaning, purpose, and connection in their Jewish lives. Together with our faculty and scholars, we offer stimulating, relevant, and dynamic Jewish learning experiences that introduce big Jewish ideas and cultivate meaningful intellectual relationships among life-long learners.

What We Offer to the Community

CAJE’s Adult Learning presents 45–60 virtual courses each year across three semesters—Fall, Spring, and Summer—plus free programs offered virtually and in person. Our community-wide speaker series, SAGES in the 305, brings inspiring voices and fresh perspectives to Jewish life.

Our Day School Parent Program fills a long-overlooked gap in adult Jewish learning, engaging local day school parents with tailored programs that inspire Jewish living and strengthen connections at home and in school.

Our new Salon Series offers small, affinity-based groups the chance to read, debate, and exchange ideas in intimate home settings. Guided by skilled moderators, participants explore the most pressing and complex issues facing the Jewish community today.

Our faculty of distinguished scholars, professors, and clergy bring Jewish wisdom to life for learners from 15 U.S. states and 4 countries.

Our Partnerships

The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning

CAJE is a proud partner of The Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning, the largest pluralistic adult Jewish education program in the world. Through Melton, we join a network of community-based schools that provide adults with the opportunity to acquire Jewish literacy in an open, pluralistic, intellectually stimulating learning environment.

Courses through the Melton School are affiliated with The Hebrew University in Jerusalem and cover topics such as:  Jewish Peoplehood, Fighting Antisemitism, Israel Education, Jews in America, and Social Justice.

Shalom Hartman Institute

CAJE is thrilled to announce its new relationship with the Shalom Hartman Institute, a leading Jewish think tank and educational center, serving Israel and North America. Its mission is to strengthen Jewish peoplehood, identity, and pluralism; to enhance the Jewish and democratic character of Israel; and to ensure that Judaism is a compelling force for good in the 21st century.

CAJE is excited to begin offering Hartman’s Foundations for a Thoughtful Judaism curricula focusing on Jewish Peoplehood, Faith, Practice, and Ethics, as well as its iEngage Project courses, which explore the significance and role of the State of Israel in contemporary Jewish life.

The Hadar Institute

CAJE is proud to partner with Hadar, a leading center for Jewish learning dedicated to building vibrant communities through Torah, prayer, and acts of kindness. Together, we bring Hadar’s world-class faculty and Project Zug curricula to our community, offering rich, text-based courses that are both rigorous and accessible. This partnership creates meaningful opportunities for learners to explore Jewish tradition in ways that inspire, challenge, and connect.

If you have an exciting curriculum you would like to bring to our community, or are looking for educational partnerships, please reach out to Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger.

L’Dor Va’Dor : Meaningful Learning for the Next Generation

The Adult Learning experience inspires learners to pass on a love of Judaism, Torah, and Jewish tradition to the next generation. These shared learning experiences serve as another link in the chain of Jewish tradition.

Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger, Director of CAJE Adult Learning (2nd from right), presents Parent Ed for Day School families at the JLA School.

Our new day-school parent program is intended to help parents of day school children access Jewish learning so that they can partner and participate more confidently in their children’s Jewish education. CAJE sponsored day and evening classes allow parents to return to the classroom and meaningfully engage with their school’s teacher and parent bodies.

We’d love to partner with you in bringing inspiring, thought-provoking adult learning to the parents in your day school. Reach out to Dr. Bella Tendler Krieger at bellatkrieger@caje-miami.org to start the conversation.
